Async decisions that don't need a meeting & having more interesting conversations
This week is about (async) decisions that don't need a meeting, and having more interesting conversations during meetings and workshops.
Let's go!

Two Workshop Tips
1: Ask more interesting questions. Get more interesting conversations.
Effectively setting the mood for a meeting can be as simple as:
- Making it fun — What was the highlight of your week
- Appreciative — What's something you want to thank a colleague for?
- Serious: What can we learn from the past week to improve next week?
2: Get feedback on all your workshops
Learning from workshop attendees is a great shortcut to improve your future workshops — while allowing them to reflect on their progress.
So, for your next meeting or workshop, take two minutes to:
- Ask everyone to think in silence and write down:
- "On a scale of 1 (= 😭) to 4 (= 😄), what rating would you give this session?"
- Optional: Ask attendees to write down one remark or suggestion as well.
- After a minute or so, reveal everyone's answer.
- If needed, have a short group discussion or follow up individually after the session.
Allow all the meeting attendees to contribute. No matter their location.
Three Async Examples
Three examples of decisions that don't need a meeting 👇
1: Prioritizing projects and initiatives
Having a Team Task List as the single source-of-truth helps you connect your team's daily work with the bigger goals and vision. A voting system can help you prioritize (input from data, customers, team, and stakeholders).
2: Running new growth experiments
A clear structure for describing your work enables you to move fast.
Example: "We believe that ASSUMPTION. To verify that, we will EXPERIMENT DETAILS and measure RESULTS. We are right if SUCCESS CRITERIA."
3: Proposing new product ideas
Ideas are the fuel of creativity and innovation. Having a Team Task List to capture, evaluate, and implement helps you take advantage of innovative ideas faster.
Example: "Our CUSTOMER has a PROBLEM when SITUATION. Our solution will CUSTOMER BENEFITS, and also help our business BUSINESS BENEFITS"
Let teams decide how they want to do things (within guidelines set by the organization).
